I have a question about pilus color. I have light brown hair and my husband has red hair. I want to know what the probability of having a kid with carmine. Is it likely?
Ashley, Saratoga Springs U.s.a.
- Very probable ! Scarlet hair carries a far more dominant chromosome than brown hair.
rebecca, bradford britain
- This depends if you have a crimson pilus cistron stored in your DNA. We each have a pair of genes for any trait like hair color, 1 from each parent. The 1 that takes precedent is the ascendant factor. Red hair is a recessive gene, so your husband has 2 ruddy hair genes. The only way for your child to have red hair is if you lot accept a recessive blood-red cistron (being covered by the dominant brown hair cistron) and that is the factor that gets passed onto the baby.

- To add together to Kayla Iacovino's answer. If you don't have the recessive Red cistron none of your offspring will have cherry hair but all of them volition carry the red gene from their dad so crimson-headed grandchildren are on the cards. If y'all practise have the recessive cherry gene then ane in 4 of your children volition be redheads.

- Actually the red hair gene is recessive to blonde and brown etc. Y'all accept two alleles, one from your mom and one from your dad. In your husbands case he has "Red"/"Red" and y'all could have "Chocolate-brown"/"Brown", "Brown"/"Blonde", of "Brown"/"Ruddy". If it is the first couple then your children CANNOT take blood-red hair, incommunicable. However if you happen to have a recessive cherry-red hair cistron maybe from one of your parents who might have had it as well so in that location is a high chance. Yous give either a Brown or Cerise cistron and your husband gives a Scarlet or Ruddy cistron then I'd say a 50% in that instance. But probably 0% but every bit mentioned, watch out for grandchildren ;) two people who don't have red pilus but carry the cistron can have children who have ruddy pilus.

- Years and years ago, before my husband and I were married, or fifty-fifty going out together, he said to me jokingly one day, "Nosotros could never go married, because our kids would be redheads!" (I have darkish cerise hair, he had very dark reddish hair). Every bit information technology turned out, nosotros did get married and our iii kids all practise have red pilus... all are, of course, gorgeous! No, actually! In Ireland, there isn't the same awful "ginger" stigma that there is in England.

- I take blonde/brown hair, and my husband has scarlet pilus. My first son has brown eyes and dark-brown hair with a few surprsing RED hairs all over his caput. Interesting huh? I want to run across grandchildren with ruby hair.

- To correct a few errors higher up. If you lot are not carrying the carmine hair gene all your children volition have a red hair factor from their begetter and a non-scarlet one from you lot and and then probably exist non-reddish. Current cognition suggests it is non a zero adventure; there is at to the lowest degree one other, different but rare, gene that tin can requite ruddy hair, and there are red haired individuals who appear to have simply a carmine/not-cherry genetic makeup. On the other hand if you are a red hair carrier, and then you lot have ane scarlet and 1 non-red factor, so each child will take substantially a fifty% take a chance of having two red-pilus genes. But this doesn't necessarily hateful that the child will have crimson hair. The "ruddy hair" gene actually comes in several version, some of which are incompletely expressed and so they may merely give red hair say ten% of the fourth dimension. The reason for this is not known only probably involves interactions with other genes. And so what are the chances of carrying a red hair gene? Analysis of UK or Britain origin populations finds that almost half the population are carriers of ane or another scarlet hair class of the gene, so y'all have a high hazard of existence a carrier. I should too say that electric current data suggests that the cistron or genes responsible for blonde versus not-blonde are different from the red non-red gene.

- Well first of all I wish I lived in Ireland! If they don't accept the stigma of being a horrid "ginger" and then I'm going! I have dark ruddy hair from parents with brown pilus (and freckles). My blood brother has brown hair. I accept 2 grandparents on each side who had red hair - hence it hiding in my parents, until they met and produced i brown haired baby and one (me) carmine head. My boyfriend has also got red hair (but very pale) but his parents are both non-red heads. He doesn't know almost his grandparents. Volition nosotros have children with red pilus 100%? It is everybody else's principal business organization!
Melanie, London, Great britain
- well...its expect like you are talking virtually my instance..:), my mother has light brown hair and my dad has red hair..i got the red hair as the kickoff kid merely my youngest brother and sister has low-cal brown pilus.

- This post is probably closed by now, I replied to it a long fourth dimension agone. I recollect when I was a kid in the USA (long time ago), people (ok, women) used to stop me and ooh and aah after my hair colour and told me I was and so lucky to have hair that color. They do the same at present to my daughters now , in Ireland, where every well-to-do woman is at present very blonde with an orangey tan; simply not to my son, although his hair is more blondey-scarlet. Gauge what, though? Hair colour doesn't guarantee you a happy life! Who'd accept thought?
Nurn, Galway Ireland
- I have mousy chocolate-brown hair and my boyfriend has ginger hair containing a mix of brown besides We have two kids together, our showtime one has brown hair just when he is in the lord's day you can run into the ginger colour on elevation and our second child also a male child has blackness pilus but also aforementioned with him has the ginger colour on tiptop when he's in the sun But y'all deceit ask for it, it just happens with the hair colour, you can say i desire a ginger haired kid, you lot only accept to wait and see really.

- Genes are strange things... I accept ginger hair and light brown optics and my sis has night chocolate-brown hair and light brownish eyes too (our mum has black hair and brownish eyes / dad has light brown hair and grayness eyes. All grandparents were dark brown or black haired). My partner has nighttime brown pilus and blue eyes (his mum has dark brown hair with brownish eyes / his dad is dark brown pilus and blueish eyes). Our girl has blonde hair (no ginger tones at all) and dark-green eyes. My sister has 5 kids. Their begetter is one-half Chinese with blackness hair. All her kids have low-cal brown hair simply all have ginger tones/ highlights peculiarly when they have been in the sun. Like I said, genes are strange things :)
